Mayfair Therapy Sustainability Policy
Effective Date: 12th February 2025
1. Introduction
At Mayfair Therapy, we recognise the importance of sustainability in protecting the environment, supporting social wellbeing, and promoting economic responsibility. As a psychotherapy practice, we are committed to embedding sustainable practices into our operations and encouraging our clients to join us in creating a positive impact for future generations.
This policy outlines our approach to sustainability across environmental, social, and economic dimensions and sets out our initial goals as we begin this journey.
2. Environmental Sustainability
We are committed to minimising our environmental footprint by adopting eco-friendly practices in our operations. Our commitments include:
Reducing Waste:
Transitioning to paperless operations wherever possible by using secure digital systems for client records, scheduling, and communication.
Recycling any unavoidable waste in line with local recycling guidelines.
Energy Efficiency:
Ensuring all electronic devices (e.g., laptop, phone) are turned off or set to energy-saving modes when not in use.
Using natural light in the therapy room whenever possible to reduce energy consumption.
Sustainable Materials:
Avoiding single-use items such as disposable cups or stationery.
Choosing eco-friendly office supplies where feasible (e.g., recycled paper if printing is necessary).
Carbon Footprint Reduction:
Encouraging clients to use public transport or active travel (e.g., walking or cycling) when visiting the practice.
Exploring opportunities to offset carbon emissions from business-related activities in the future.
3. Social Sustainability
As a mental health practice, Mayfair Therapy is inherently focused on social wellbeing. We aim to extend this focus beyond individual therapy sessions by:
Promoting inclusivity and accessibility in all aspects of the practice to ensure services are welcoming and available to diverse populations.
Encouraging open discussions about the connection between mental health and environmental issues with clients where appropriate.
Supporting community initiatives that align with our values, such as volunteering or donating to mental health or environmental charities.
4. Economic Sustainability
We aim to operate responsibly and sustainably by:
Managing resources efficiently to reduce waste and unnecessary expenses while maintaining high-quality services for clients.
Supporting local businesses wherever possible when purchasing supplies or services for the practice.
Investing in tools and technologies that enhance both operational efficiency and sustainability (e.g., secure digital platforms).
5. Client Engagement
We believe that sustainability is a shared responsibility and will actively involve clients in our efforts by:
Encouraging clients to opt for digital communication (e.g., email receipts, online booking) instead of paper-based alternatives.
Providing information about environmentally friendly travel options when visiting the practice location.
Sharing educational resources on how sustainable practices can positively impact mental health and overall wellbeing.
6. Initial Sustainability Goals
To begin implementing this policy, Mayfair Therapy has set the following initial goals:
Apply for B-Corp Registration with the intent to be a registered B-Corp within one calendar year from the date of this document.
Transition to a fully paperless system for client records within six months (by August 2025).
Reduce non-recyclable waste generated by the practice by at least 50% within one year (by February 2026).
Raise awareness among clients about sustainable travel options through email communications and signage in the therapy room within three months (by May 2025).
Explore partnerships with local mental health or environmental charities for potential collaboration within six months of the date of this document.
7. Monitoring and Review
This Sustainability Policy will be reviewed annually to evaluate progress towards goals and identify new opportunities for improvement. Feedback from clients and other stakeholders will be welcomed as part of this process. By adopting this policy, Mayfair Therapy seeks to contribute positively to environmental conservation, social wellbeing, and economic responsibility while continuing to provide high-quality mental health services.
