Matthew Storie-Pugh: Founder and Lead Psychotherapist
A Foundation Built on Experience and Insight
As the founder and lead psychotherapist at Mayfair Therapy in Mayfair, London, I bring a wealth of lived experience and professional insight to my practice. My approach is rooted in psychodynamic psychotherapy, exploring the deeper patterns and unconscious processes that shape our lives.
My path to becoming a psychotherapist was deeply influenced by profound personal experiences, including serving as a primary caregiver for my father and sister after a life-changing car accident. This journey instilled in me a deep understanding of resilience, empathy, and the complexities of the human condition.
FROM LIFE EXPERIENCE INTO COMPASSIONATE CARE
These formative experiences ignited my passion for understanding the human mind, leading me to pursue postgraduate studies at Birkbeck, University of London, a renowned centre for psychotherapeutic training. There, I studied under Professor Stephen Frosh, further refining my knowledge and skills in psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Shaping the Future of Mental Health
Beyond my work at Mayfair Therapy, I am a partner and the mental health lead at SGMT (“Segment”), a boutique branding agency specialising in the health and wellness industry. I am also the co-founder and clinical lead at trnql, a company redefining the future of mental health by integrating cutting-edge technology with proven therapeutic methodologies. These roles enable me to bring my therapeutic expertise to a wider audience, shaping how mental health is understood and addressed in both the business world and the broader community.
My practice at Mayfair Therapy is shaped by a rich tapestry of personal and professional experiences, allowing me to offer clients a unique combination of compassion, insight, and evidence-based therapeutic techniques. I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their challenges, unlock their potential, and live more fulfilling lives. I live in Marylebone, London, with my family.
